We all know it. The so called Blogosphere is a damn big place. Not every blog you find there is worth being read1) and you can easily kill a whole day while searching for interesting blogs. Some will say that`s what`s digg or reddit for, but wait, I can easily kill a whole week searching for interesting stuff at the aforementioned sites too. Okay, every now and then it really happens that you find a great blog to add to your feed reader but it`s not the most effective way I think. What worked best for me lately were recommendations by friends or people who are at least a little aware of what I am interested in or what draws my attention. And I think these are criteria which also apply to you, the reader of my blog
. So here`s a little experiment:
These are five blogs I would recommend if someone would ask me (given the fact we would roughly share the same interests of course
):
the-gay-bar: Although the title may sound strange on first sight I really like this one. Topics are widely spread, covering Linux related stuff as well as topics of public interest, the web or just rants. What I like most about it is the way it`s written: smart, sarcastic and well thought out.
xkcd: If you don`t know it yet, check it out. It`s a comic strip about quote: “sarcasm, math, and language”. Since I am subscribed, the number of days which I start laughing at my desk have increased dramatically
.
cad-comic: Another comic strip I got recommend from a friend. You have to read it from the beginning though because it wont make sense otherwise.
devchix: Quote “A knowledgeable and very talented group of women in the tech and programming field”. A low traffic blog about programming mostly related to web development.
command line warriors: Again, a well written blog about technology in general as well as Linux (Gentoo) related topics.
So now it`s your turn. I showed you mine please show me yours
. If you know of any interesting blogs you would recommend I would be glad if you leave me a note (maybe along with a little description why you like it)!
Well, thanks for recommending my site but whether my posts are really all that “well thought out” is something many people would probably disagree ;)
But as I already said, thanks for recommending my page.
A few I can recommend:
English: http://diveintomark.org/ Dive Into Mark, by Mark Pilgrim, http://www.schneier.com/blog/ Schneier on Security
German: http://insmwatchblog.wordpress.com/ INSM Watchblog, http://www.fixmbr.de/ F!XMBR
Hope there's something in those for you.
2007/08/28 18:12OK, I had thought that I would have had to write HTML which obviously was not correct ;)
2007/08/28 18:13
No problem, I removed the HTML part. Thanks for your recommendations. I didn`t knew diveintomark, and INSM Watchblog, they look quite interesting
.
Great idea, here are my blog recommendations.
